2017 Land Rover Discovery

Introducing the 2017 Land Rover Discovery

The 2017 Land Rover Discovery is the fifth generation of the vehicle. One of the biggest changes that people see when they look at the new model year is the body. This year, the Land Rover Discovery has a new unibody SUV design instead of the truck-based design we have grown used to. It is a completely different look but one that can be easily embraced. As a result, the body is lighter by approximately 1,000 pounds and can move more swiftly while becoming a more efficient vehicle. But there is so much more to the new model year than the new body design. Continue reading to learn all about it. more The Interior Design Even though the outside design has changed to appear smaller, the interior has gained more space. By stretching the overall design of the vehicle, you can now enjoy third row seating. The final row of seats is slightly elevated to give a theater seating look. There is also an automatic kneeling function to allow for easy access in and out of the rear seats. There is ample room inside for everyone to enjoy a nice off-road adventure and everyone can still see outside with the seat layout. Off-Roading Capabilities It wouldn't be a Land Rover without some kind of off-roading capabilities and the 2017 model year does not disappoint. The new model year has been filled with the latest technology in the category so you can enjoy the road, and lack of a road, like never before. Some of the features include All-Terrain Progress Control, which is like a cruise control at lower speeds for off-road adventures, the Terrain Response 2 multi-program off-road system for better control and access while driving, and Advanced Tow Assist, which allows drivers to back a trailer with the Terrain Response rotary instead of the steering wheel. Technology Additions Adding the latest technology to vehicles is something that must be done in order to stay relevant in the market and the Land Rover does not disappoint. Anywhere you are in the vehicle, you can enjoy the touch of technology. Inside the vehicle you will find a 3G Wi-Fi hotspot, six 12-volt charge points, and up to nine USB plugs. All of that comes standard but you can also add in an optional 10 inch infotainment screen with InTouch software included. You can even use an app to use Intelligent Seat Fold technology and fold any of the second or third row seats at the touch of your screen. They have also included the Activity Key wristband which can allow drivers to lock their key in the car and then unlock it by touching the waterproof wristband to the "D" on the tailgate. The 2017 Land Rover Discovery has had a major change to the overall look but there are also other notable changes that makes it a great option for anyone looking for a smaller off-roading vehicle. It looks better than ever before and it was designed to function better as well.

Old Bags Luncheon

Old Bags events have been traditions in many communities since 1999. The first event was created as a charity fundraiser, and it raised about $20,000 for the selected charity. Old Bags Luncheons are known as one of the most unique and interesting charity events around. Event attendees and others in the community donate their gently used handbags, purses, and accessories. These items are then auctioned off during the luncheon for the chosen charity. The draw for many is the chance to get novel, interesting items at a fraction of their retail value. These are usually very exclusive events, with tickets selling out quickly. more This Year's Naples Event The Naples Old Bags Luncheon was held on Thursday, March 24th at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort. There were over 300 designer bags up for auction. Some of the bags were new, but the majority of them were "previously loved" bags donated by people in the community. Tickets for this exclusive event were $350. There were a number of sponsors for the event, some of which were national, such as Saks Fifth Avenue. Many of the sponsors were local, like Naples Daily News. Sponsor packages started at $1,000. Charity Recipient Every Old Bags Luncheon has a pre-designated charity recipient. Because of the auction aspect and the designer items sold through Old Bags events, these charities generally get large donations from each event. This year's Naples event was held to benefit The Shelter for Abused Women and Children in Naples. The shelter has been the recipient of this charity fundraiser for several years. In fact, in 2014 the Old Bag Luncheon raised over $250,000 for the shelter. The official numbers for how many people attended this year's Old Bags Luncheon, how much was raised, and how many items were sold have not yet been released. However, it was a successful event, as always. The money raised by the event goes to help women and children get out of abusive situations and start a new life. Some of the many services provided by the shelter include emergency shelter, safety planning, counseling and support groups. The Next Event The Old Bags Luncheon in Naples is over for this year, and this specific event only occurs every other year. However, there are Old Bags Luncheons all over the country. If you're interested in finding out more about where and when the next event is taking place, you can check out Old Bags Luncheon on Facebook. Wherever they're held, the money raised by Old Bags events goes toward worthy community causes. If you weren't able to make it this year, consider checking out the next Old Bags Luncheon.

The Maserati Levante: An SUV with the Soul of a Race Car

The long-awaited addition to the luxury SUV class, the Maserati Levante first appeared at the 2016 Geneva Motor show. Debuting on one of the largest scenes in the automotive world, surrounded by numerous other models also making their debut, the Levante shone. Surrounded by theatrics, with a baptism from Ferrari head Lapo Elkann, it was a fitting bow for a vehicle that Maserati boss Harald Wester has said is Maserati’s “biggest business opportunity.” more Unlike many bloated luxury SUVs on the market, the Levante values streamlined efficiency and style. While some manufacturers are stuffing oversized, gas-guzzling engines into their SUVs, the Levante will utilize a twin-turbocharged V6 engine that will be capable of producing 424 horsepower. This engine will still allow for conservative gas mileage, thanks to a well-adjusted eight-speed automatic transmission. Don’t confuse efficient with slow though, as the Levante is expected to keep pace with an acceleration time from zero to 60 miles per hour of 5.2 seconds. Full-time Q4 intelligent four-wheel drive will allow the Levante to handle poor weather and road conditions, and even provide quality off-road capabilities that are expected to better those offered by other luxury SUV models from Bentley and BMW. Five different levels of ground clearance are offered, plus an extra one for parking. Of course, with Maserati, it isn’t all about the performance. The exterior flows and curves, imitating the easterly Levant wind that blows across the Mediterranean Sea and that the Levante is named for. Muscular rear fenders hint at the performance capabilities, while a tapering roofline gives the Levante a profile that seems closer to a tall fastback sedan. A roof spoiler and sporty quad exhaust pipes – similar to the cars offered by Maserati - accent the rear. Up front, the Maserati trident shines in the center of a large, vertically-divided grille that is set between narrowed headlight assemblies. It is a front end that has a clear family resemblance with the Quattroporte and Ghibli sedans – a resemblance further helped along by the presence of Maserati’s three front vents that are seen on all of the company’s vehicles. Inside, the luxury is at the level you have come to expect from Maserati. The finest materials are available for upholstery and trim, including high-quality leathers, wood accents, and even the option of silk from the world-famous Zegna wool mill. The cabin is spacious, providing enough room for five full-sized adults to fit comfortable, even for a longer journey, and the rear cargo bay offers plenty of storage, able to swallow up luggage, golf clubs, groceries, or anything else that may need to be hauled along. Maserati is also using the Levante to debut the latest generation of its 8.4-inch Touch Control touch screen infotainment system. The 5 Most Iconic Luxury Cars in Movies

James Bond Goldfinger | Eon Productions Luxury cars have it good. They're highly coveted, demonstrate a high level of status, attract others of the opposite sex, and are a ton of fun to drive. Even on the silver screen, these cars play a huge role in showing the cool factor of a particular character. Here are a few of the truly iconic luxury cars in the movies. more 1964 Aston Martin DB5 from Goldfinger James Bond Goldfinger | Eon Productions Nothing says cool more than James Bond, so it's only natural that he drives a comparable car. In the movie Goldfinger, which was one of the first James Bond movies in the franchise, Sean Connery drives this beauty, complete with machine guns, in an attempt to defeat the villain. At last auction, this DB-5 sold for a whopping $4.6 million, which just goes to show you that may need a bigger bank account before you try to buy this one off the owner. 1980 Maserati Quattroporte III from The Godfather Part III The Godfather Part III | Paramount Pictures Although The Godfather Part III didn't achieve the same success as the first two titles in the franchise, it was still a movie full of intrigue. However, the Maserati Quattroporte wasn't so much important because of who drove it in the movie, but instead because it unveiled the car to a wide audience. Since this movie, any time there's a Maserati in a movie, it's more than likely a Quattroporte. Rolls-Royce Phantom II from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade | Lucasfilm So this luxury car doesn't have as much cachet as the previous two vehicles, but it does set up one of the best final scenes in any action movie ever. A Phantom II is offered to the Sultan of Hatay as compensation for some of his army, as our villains attempt to complete their quest for the Holy Grail. Jaguar XK8 from Memento Memento | Newmarket Films | Summit Entertainment If you've never seen Memento, it's basically a film where the main character, portrayed by Guy Pearce, loses his short-term memory during a home invasion. During the event, his wife perishes. To track down the killer without his memory, he tattoos clues all over his body. One oddity during the film is that he drives an XK8. Thankfully, the car has an alarm, otherwise he'd never find his car, but for a guy without a memory, he does have one sweet ride. Aston Marting DB10 from Spectre James Bond Spectre | Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer | Eon Productions | Columbia Pictures James Bond just can't get enough of Aston Martin. In Daniel Craig's epic finale, all of James Bond's inner demons come back to haunt him as he tries to take down the criminal organization known as Spectre. Luckily, Bond has an Aston Martin DB10 at his disposal. In reality, Aston Martin paired with the makers of Spectre to create this work of art, and it's sure to go down as one of the coolest Bond cars. There's hardly enough time to pore over all the best luxury vehicles in film history, but these are definitely some of the best. Without a doubt, cars truly make an impact on what you remember about a movie.

Aston Martin DB10

James Bond Spectre Features Bespoke Aston Martin DB10

The world’s favorite spy, James Bond, is back in theaters this month, and boy, 007 has an impeccable taste for high-performance automobiles. In the latest Bond movie – the 24th in the series, which opened in theaters Nov. 6 – the British secret agent drives a specially built Aston Martin DB10. It’s a sleek, timeless 2-door coupe that matches class and style with serious performance. more Aston Martin built the DB10 specifically for the film, and last December the DB10 was introduced as the movie’s “first cast member.” The team at Naples Luxury Imports is excited to see Bond’s new Aston Martin on the big screen, especially the car’s leading role in a high-speed chase scene through the streets of Rome that passes by the city’s iconic monuments. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at the chase scene that was produced by the filmmakers: Aston Martin’s 50-Year History in Bond Flicks Aston Martin has been James Bond’s choice for automobiles since 1964. The Aston Martin DB5 was the first coupe introduced in the series, and it was driven by Sean Connery in Goldfinger. Since then, Aston has built a variety of vehicles for the record-breaking franchise, and the DB10 is one of the most, if not the most, impressive we’ve seen. Ten DB10 coupes were built for the movie, with some serving as stunt vehicles and others serving as showcase pieces. The coupe is built on top of Aston’s VH Platform and shares similarities with the V8 Vantage. The DB10 features a six-speed manual transmission and is powered by a 4.7-liter V8 engine. Inside, the coupe is lavish with dark leather seats, perfectly suited for the world’s classiest spy. Director Sam Mendes said that he wanted the car to have a “timeless” style, and Aston Martin certainly delivered. You might be wondering: Will the Aston Martin DB10 go into production? Unfortunately, no. Of the 10 that were built, four were totaled during production. Today, there are 6 left, and five of those will go on display in showrooms and museums around the world. The last one will be auctioned sometime next year to benefit charities. And many are speculating the only available DB10 will become the most expensive street-legal vehicle ever sold. Aston Martin Releases Limited Edition Bond Edition DB9 Even though the DB10 won’t be produced, here’s some good news: Aston Martin is producing an ultra-exclusive line of DB9 coupes inspired by Bond. The 2015 DB9 GT Bond Edition will go on sale later this year, and the vehicle will only be available in limited quantities. Just 150 DB9 GT Bond Edition coupes will be available around the world. Here’s what you can expect from the specially-designed DB9. The coupe is powered by a 6-liter 540-horsepower V12 engine that packs an almost impossible punch. The DB9 GT can hit 0-60 MPH in roughly 4 seconds and it maxes out at 180+ MPH. How’s that Aston Martin performance for you? But the limited edition Bond DB9 also has that classic Aston style. It features dark leather interior surfaces, a specially programmed touch screen display, stitched Bond Edition logos, and specially numbered plaques. Plus, the DB9 features a specially created Silver Spectre paint job. If you’re a big fan of the DB10, though, you might be in luck. Many automotive industry insiders are speculating that the movie’s DB10 will serve as design inspiration for the DB9’s replacement, which is expected sometime in 2016.

rapide-electric

Aston Martin Plans Electric Car with 200-Mile Range

Aston Martin’s Rapide sports car is about to get an all-electric makeover. The British auto manufacturer recently announced plans for an all-wheel-drive electric version with a whopping 200-mile all-electric range. But that doesn’t mean the Rapide EV will lose any of its signature power or stunning good looks. Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer recently confirmed at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance that the Rapide EV will deliver 800-horsepower and will look strikingly similar to the current incarnation of the premium sports sedan. Fortunately, this isn’t just a concept car either. Aston is already testing a vehicle, and they’re pushing for a 2018 production run. more Now, the Two-Year Wait is on At Naples Luxury Imports, customers have taken a keen interest in the 2015 Rapide V-120 sports sedan, which delivers 470 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. And we’re expecting as details emerge about the all-electric version, interest will be just as fierce. Here is what we know about the eventual Rapide EV: Aston Martin Rapide EV: Specifications, Pricing and Release Date Unfortunately, Palmer didn’t offer specifics about the drivetrain, or an ultimate release date. But we do know the plan is for a vehicle with at least 800 horsepower and a 200-mile all-electric range, with batteries developed by an established company like LG or Samsung. Plus, it looks like the Rapide EV won’t be Aston’s only foray into the all-electric segment. Palmer said that Aston also has an all-electric version of its new crossover, the Aston Martin DBX, in the works, with plans to release it by or before 2020. The manufacturer introduced the concept DBX EV earlier this year at the Geneva Auto Show, and details about the DBX EV are even more uncertain. Drivetrain specifications and interior styling haven’t yet been released, and we expect those further down the road as production gets closer. Although pricing details weren’t provided, speculation has been that the Rapide EV would be similarly priced to the current non-electric mode, which starts north of $200,000. Aston's Foray Into Premium, Performance-Minded All-Electric Vehicles Palmer talked a bit about Aston Martin’s interest in the premium electric segment, and there are a number of reasons. For one, increasing the brand’s offerings of all-electric vehicles, Palmer said, would help Aston meet emissions goals. In other words, with a variety of V-8 and V-12 sports cars in the line-up, Aston is looking to build out its electric line-up to meet governmental standards for manufacturer efficiency. But there’s something more at play. The high-perform electric vehicle segment is exploding, and Aston Martin is poised to a major play in high-end legacy sports cars. Tesla Motors is working on a variety of electric sports cars, Palmer said, but he noted that Telsa isn’t a direct competitor. Instead, Palmer noted that Aston Martin sees an opportunity for developing ultra-premium electric vehicles that carry on AM’s tradition of superior performance. At 800-horsepower, the Rapide EV would be in a class of its own, in terms of performance, styling and luxury amenities. It would be a powerful, supremely elegant four-door sports car – much like the current Rapide. And instead of a “technology play,” Aston Martin enthusiasts want a vehicle they can take to the track. > Naples Luxury Imports will continue to update as more details about the Rapide EV come available. Yet, we’re excited to see such a powerful, elegant, and all-electric vehicle makes it way to market. Aston continues to engineer sports vehicles that push the envelope, and this is certainly true of that.

Mystery of the Maserati Crossover

Is a Maserati Crossover coming to a showroom near you? Industry blogs were buzzing recently, as patent images showed that Maserati does, in fact, have plans in place for a sleek, sporty crossover SUV. It’s called the Maserati Levante, and it isn’t expected to hit the market until 2017. But fortunately, the leaked images gave us our first look at the first-ever Maserati crossover. Needless to say, the Levante is a perfect example of Maserati’s commitment to style, design grace and performance. more Following the leak, FIAT Group CEO Sergio Marchionne confirmed that work had begun on the Maserati CUV some time ago, and Marchionne said that the Levante will start being produced next year in Italy. Everyone here at Naples Luxury Imports was thrilled with the news, because it’s the Italian automaker’s first foray into the booming premium crossover space, which is currently owned by Porshe and Land Rover. Here are a few things you can expect: So what can you expect from the Maserati Levante? As far as exterior, the Levante features a swooping roofline that gradually tapers towards the rear. The crossover features a low-center-of-gravity stance, so it appears more ready to pounce than the Porshe Cayenne, which will be one of the vehicle’s main competitors. Plus, the Levante will feature a rear fascia with Maserati’s signature tail lamps, a rear spoiler and quad exhaust. The Levante crossover will feature a distinctly Maserati profile. Looking at the design drawings, the Levante clearly shares styling details with Maserati’s signature four-doors, the Ghibli and the Quattroporte. That includes a front fascia with a geometric, slatted front grille, sculpted headlamps and grated air dams. Plus, the fenders feature a trio of vents on both sides, a signature Maserati style detail that’s shared with the Ghibli, GranTurismo and the Quattroporte. Since the drawings are just black-and-white sketches, it’s difficult to tell exactly what the Maserati Levante will look like when it hits the production line in Italy. But it’s safe to say it will be a sporty, low-profile small SUV. What kind of power will the Levante have? Right now, engine specs for the crossover are just speculation, but FIAT Group has provided some hints about what consumers might expect. In Italy and throughout Europe, the Levante is expected to be released with a turbocharged diesel engine with six-speed, manual transmission. Those details aren’t likely to be available in the U.S. Instead, according to information released by Maserati, the Levante will be released with two available V6 engines with different tunes. There will be a 350 and 450-horsepower options available, with a V8 580-horsepower beast available beginning in 2018. When Will Maserati Unveil the Levante? These leaked Levante sketches are just patent designs, and it’s likely that the finalized concept will undergo slight adjustments. We’ll just have to wait and see, but when will the final Maserati Levante reach the market? Maserati has been mum on the details, but industry publications are speculating we’ll have to wait about six months. All signs are pointing to the 2016 Detroit Motor Show for the Levante’s grand unveiling, and it will likely become available for customers in late 2016. As for pricing, Maserati hasn’t yet revealed pricing, but the Levante is expected to start at around $100,000. Maserati has set a goal of selling up to 15,000 Levante crossovers each year, before making a push for 75,000 cars in 2018. In other words, Maserati is committed to this model, and it’s bound to rival crossovers from Porsche and Land Rover. At Naples Luxury Imports, we were excited to see these initial design drawings, and we can’t wait until next year’s Detroit Motor Show.

2016 Bentley Bentayga

Meet the 2016 Bentley Bentayga

Long revered for its dedication to providing the ultimate in luxury cars, Bentley is preparing to venture into unknown territory with the projected release of the 2016 Bentley Bentayga, their first SUV. This vehicle started out as a concept version under the code-name EXP 9 F and then was rumored to be named the Bentley Falcon. However, the name that will be seen on the 2016 release will be the Bentayga. more More than another Luxury SUV The world already has a wealth of luxury SUVs to choose from, but none of them come close to matching the style and luxury of the 2016 Bentley Bentayga. The Bentayga will be riding on the same superb platform used to create the Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne, two of the finest SUVs currently available. Using this platform means that the overall weight of the Bentayga should be relatively low, or at least light for Bentley. Along with a lightweight design, Bentayga buyers can expect significant performance from this amazing SUV. In fact you can expect this vehicle to come with a top speed of approximately 200 miles per hour straight off the showroom floor. Engine options are set to be a choice between the 6.0 liter, W12 capable of producing from 575 to 650 horsepower based on the final version chosen, and the 4.0 liter twin turbo V8 that may be somewhat less powerful. While it may be less powerful than the W12, the V8 will still produce plenty of power and be relatively economical to drive. Rumor has it that along with the choices in gasoline power plants, buyers will also be able to choose the Bentley Bentayga Hybrid, which offers the ability to plug your Bentayga in and recharge it for the ultimate in eco-friendly luxury SUVs. The hybrid model is not expected to become available until the 2017 model year. It is quite possible the Bentayga Hybrid will use a hybrid system similar to the one currently being used in the Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid. A Bigger Share of the Luxury SUV Market For years, the only true luxury SUV was the top of the line model from British car maker Range Rover. In recent years, companies like Mercedes, Porsche, BMW and Audi have proven that there is a vast untapped market for these vehicles. These German brands are investing millions in improving sales of these vehicles and their entire lineup. Bentley believes that the Bentayga will help boost its sales by allowing this venerable British car manufacturer to enter the lucrative and rapidly growing luxury SUV market. The distinctive Bentley styling may seem to be a bit on the unusual side for an SUV, but in fact, this vehicle is expected to sell out within minutes of the release date being announced. Great Looks and Styling It is expected that the front end of the 2016 Bentayga will have the traditional Bentley quad headlights and prominent grille we have all become so familiar. Flowing lines highlight the body design from front to rear, and the rear end will feature a spoiler pinned to the tailgate. The Bentayga will feature a dual exhaust system for maximum efficiency as well as looks. On the inside, we can expect to see a host of top quality leather and wood grain finishes. As with all Bentley models, you can expect the Bentayga to be loaded with a host of the latest high tech infotainment and safety features, most of which have yet to be announced. We can expect the 2016 Bentley Bentayga to become available in the later part of this year, but in order to find out exactly when, you will need to stay in touch with the sales professionals at Naples Luxury Imports. Aston Martin DB10

Aston Martin DB10 to be Next James Bond Car

If you were to ask any James Bond fan what type of car he drives, the obvious answer would be an Aston Martin. While this legendary luxury sports car is not the only car the illustrious Mr. Bond has driven in the movies, it is the most memorable. James Bond movies have always been known for the amazing array of gadgets he has access to, along with a bevvy of the most beautiful women in the world. But no matter how you look at it, there has only ever been one car for which James Bond has always been known, the British made Aston Martin. Never one to break with tradition, Sam Mendes, the director of the new James Bond movie Spectre, which is the 24th movie in the series, will see James behind the wheel of the all- new Aston Martin DB10. more From the Very Beginning The first time Mr. Bond slid behind the wheel of an Aston Martin was in the 1964 movie Goldfinger. Here he was seen driving the Silver Birch DB5. This amazing car truly established the basis from which all future Bond cars would be designed. This DB5 came equipped with oil slick dispenser, twin machine guns, built in radar, a smoke screen dispenser, and of course the unforgettable passenger side ejector seat. Proof that MI6 had created a winner could be seen in the fact the same car was featured as Mr. Bond's getaway vehicle at the beginning of 1965's Thunderball. The DB5 albeit left in bone stock condition and in green livery, found its way into two more James Bond movies in 1969 and 1971. These were On His Majesty's Secret Service and Diamonds Are Forever respectively. After a 16 year break Bond fans were treated to a Gun Metal Silver Aston Martin V8 Volante in the 1987 hit movie The Living Daylights. Unlike the previous DB5 that was left stock, the new Volante was once again equipped with a vast array of MI6 gadgetry. This included lasers built into the hubcaps, skis, a rocket booster, a self-destruct system, and of course a guided missile system. While fans loved the new V8 Volante, they went crazy when the franchise revived the DB5 in GoldenEye released in 1995. After racing against Xenia Onatopp in her Ferrari 355, Bond poured champagne kept in the glove box chiller. This same 1964 DB5 found its way into yet another Bond movie, Tomorrow Never Dies in 1997 on a limited basis. After another short break, Q insisted on modifying yet another Aston Martin in the 2002 movie Die Another Day. The Aston Martin Vanquish featured machine guns hiding under the hood, cannons under the chassis, and rockets behind the radiator grille. The Most Recent Players In 2006 the Bond franchise released a remake of Casino Royale that features a relatively stock Aston Martin DBS. This same car found its way into Quantum of Solace in 2008, a movie more famous for the filming accident that cause the loss of the original DBS, requiring a second car being brought in. In 2012 the famous 1964 DB5 once again found its way onto the silver screen in Skyfall. It seems only fitting that in the 50th year of the relationship between Aston Martin and 007 that a new model, the Aston Martin DB10, would be the car of choice for the latest Bond hit movie Spectre. The DB10 seen in the movie will be one of only ten of these incredible cars to be built at the Aston Martin headquarters in Graydon, England. The all-new DB10 has been created out of a close relationship between film director Sam Mendes and the company's design team in an effort to create the ultimate car for the world's most famous spy. Production models are expected to be released for sale to discerning buyers in November of 2015.
